Penny Menze Endorses Sierra Guitars!
Charleston, SC, April 12, 2010–
Sierra Guitars is happy to announce guitarist and singer-songwriter Penny Menze as the newest endorser of Sierra Guitars! Penny plays the Sierra Alpine SDS55CETS Acoustic-Electric in Vintage Sunburst.
After officially signing an agreement with Sierra Guitars earlier this month Penny Menze stated, “My Sierra Guitar has become a constant companion. I love the consistent bright resonate sound. In regards to the action, I’m impressed with how easy it is to play. I keep two guitars with me for shows. My Alpine Sunburst is one. It has also become my writing companion. This guitar has been a gift and it produces gifts. Thank you Sierra!!!!!”
Growing up in Arizona, Penny spent most of her time outside; camping, hiking, mountain climbing, and riding dirt bikes all over the State. When she was 7 years old, her Mom made her take piano lessons. At age 9 she switched to guitar. Her Father gave her a Johnny Cash cassette tape and a radio shack tabletop cassette player. Penny found a Lynn Anderson album, and listened to it over and over. She knew she wanted to be a country singer. By the time she was 15, Penny landed her first “gig”. So she went home and used that cassette recorder and learned as many songs as she could. By 16 she was penning her own songs.
Penny eventually formed her own band, Penny and the Loose Change Band and after 15 years of steady work in Arizona, and two marriages, she decided in 1998 to make the move to Nashville. She sang on the Ryman Stage (home of the Grand Ole Opry) while auditioning for the Tammy Wynette Story. She’s raised her son, been married a couple times, and made a living playing music. In 2006, she connected with producer Alan
O’Bryant of the Nashville Bluegrass Band and put together an acoustic roots sound with a bluegrass blend with some of the finest musicians in Nashville.
In January 2010, Penny finished up her latest project, an album called “Planes, Trains, Trucks…Lovin’ and Leavin’”. A grassroots/country effort, this record features worldclass bluegrass musicians.
